Like genes they mix. Like genes they need a host. A host to lodge in and to procreate. Genetic engineering. What corresponds? Can't put an animal meme into a different animal, or can you? Perhaps that's what we do when we domesticate animals? One way traffic? So far. Or misleading. So genes and memes have a common interest. Genocide kills the carriers of genes and culture. Extinct species and dead languages. Vast gene pools in danger of extermination. Keep them in a lab. till needed? Probably much better for a gene or a meme to find a live host. Not in books or in computers, but in brains. Does the brain have far more RAM than a computer? All that jumble instantly available? Colossal! Hindu society particularly has used live brains for ages and ages to store: - Memorised epics, The gossip network, and Who was whose ancestor.
