There’s been plenty of interest from media and some lively discussions are already taking place. Both books are now available and to order your copy follow the book links.

NEWS WRAP

Bite Your Tongue has been getting some great advance reviews, check out these ones from Readings and Overland. Also this heartfelt piece in Axon by Francesca Rendle-Short on the writing of Bite Your Tongue. Spinifex Press also published Francesca's first novel, Imago whic one ACT Book of the year Award in 1997.     

Big Porn Inc is out and causing quite a stir: ABC Religion & Ethics website posted an edited extract from Helen Pringle’s piece, The Porn Report: A studied indifference to harm and an edited extract by Melinda Tankard Reist & Abigail Bray, Nothing Radical About Mass Market Masturbation. Cordelia Fine wrote this fabulous, thought-provoking piece in The Monthly, The Porn Ultimatum: The Dehumanising Effects of Smut. Melinda Tankard Reist featured on ABC’s The Drum and The Weekend Australian magazine published an extract from a personal story included in Big Porn Inc, The Impact of Pornography on My Life. And finally, this erudite piece from Helen Pringle on Online opinion: Pornography: Who’s sleeping with whom?

Big Porn Inc: Exposing the Harms of the Global Pornography Industry
When: Tuesday 13 Sep, 5:30 - 7pm
Hear three contributors from this ground-breaking work speak on their topic, Dr Meaghan Tyler (Spectacular Sex? Pornography and Sex Therapy Collide), Professor Sheila Jeffreys (Live Pornography: Strip Clubs in the International Political Economy) and Dr Renate Klein (Big Porn + Big Pharma: Where the Pornography Industry Meets the Ideology of Medicalisation)

Surrogacy
When: Tuesday 4 Oct, 5.30-7pm
Dr Renate Klein will speak about Australian and International developments in surrogacy.

The 7th Annual World Matters Festival 2011
Come down to beautiful Montsalvat in Eltham over the weekend of the 15th and 16th October to hear some of Australia’s finest writers speak on matters close to their heart.
